Thyristorised Temperature Controller
Thyristorised Temperature Controller is a system wherein the temperature of an equipment to be heated (e.g. a furnace) is
controlled by adjusting the power applied to the heaters in static
manner.
Features:
- This is a solid state thyristorised temperature controller,hence there are no mechanical problems associated
with contactor operated controllers. As a result, there is no sparking,hence no wear & tear & no maintenance is
required.This increases the reliability.
- A line choke employed at the input limits the inrush current at the instant of thyristor firing.This reduces the stress on the
mains supply.This also protects the power device from di/dt
failures.
- Precise temperature control (typically within 1 %) is possible as the control process is very fast due to solid state control
technology.
- Fast switching semiconductor fuses are provided in the line top rotect the power devices against overloads & short circuits.
- Protection is provided against negative sequence( phase reversal) , phase failure & overtemperature.Under such
circumstances,the firing pulses are taken off . The voltage applied to the heaters is brought down to zero & fault
indicating lamp on the front panel glows.

STATIC TRANSFER SWITCH
This is a device, which ensures continuity of power supply toyour precious machines and avoids breakdown. This is not an
Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) System but it aids the user to get continuous power supply by automatically transferring the
load to another source in case the priority source fails.
Features:
- Transfer of the load takes place through static devices. Hence there is no mechanical movement involved as when you employ contactors
for effecting the transfers. This avoids the problems of chattering and sparking. Hence it does not require maintenance & increases
reliability.
- Fast acting semiconductor fuses are provided in line with each source in order to safeguard the static switch against short circuits and overloads. Normal HRC fuses cannot protect semiconductors, hence fast acting fuses are employed to protect the thyristors.
- Transfer of load from one source to another is effected within a period of 15 to 20 milliseconds maximum which doesnot cause any problems like rebooting of computers or tripping of instrumentation load.This has confirmed as these switches have been field tested on actual loads.
- The control board has various settings like under voltage, transfer delay time. Two Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) green & amber to
indicate the presence & healthiness of the power supply. Other three red coloured LEDs provide the information about which source is
feeding the load.
- The static Switch is designed for large input voltage variations of 160VAC to 300VAC. This ensures the smooth functioning of the
static switch under worst mains supply conditions.

Light Arresters
When a high voltage (greater than the normal line voltage) exists on the line, the arrester immediately furnishes a path to ground and thus limits and drains off the excess voltage. The arrester must provide this relief and then prevent any further flow of current to ground. The arrester has two functions; it must provide a point in the circuit at which an over-voltage pulse can pass to ground and second, to prevent any follow-up current from flowing to ground. |
